The Woodruff Building opened on February 1, 1911, the same day the Republican and Frisco Buildings were opened. It contained 276 offices, a drugstore, barbershop, and pool hall. At John T. Woodruff’s office here on April 30, 1926, the number 66 was reportedly first proposed for the highway between Chicago and Los Angeles.
